Phillippa Koushk-Jalali

Phillippa started her undergraduate studies in 2006 at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she gained a Bachelor of Music with Honours. Whilst at the RNCM, she was awarded a distinction for her Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) certificate, and with her brass quintet she won the RNCM 2010 Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Prize.

Phillippa was then awarded a full scholarship for postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music in 2011, funded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. During her year at RAM, she won the prestigious Dennis Brain Horn Prize, and completed her Master of Arts with distinction.

Phillippa now enjoys a varied career as a freelance orchestral and session musician. Her professional orchestral engagements include work with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Contemporary Orchestra, English National Ballet, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Birmingham Royal Ballet. Her session engagements include recording for Isobel Griffiths Ltd., COOL Music Ltd., Hilary Skewes and co., and English Session Orchestra. Phillippa’s playing can be heard on many film and television soundtracks, including the upcoming James Bond film, “No Time to Die”.
